How do you find out where your seats are though? Do you get to pick them? Or are they just allocated? Think I might just book online... :s

I'm not sure, just saw it on their Myspace page.

Awesome idea, but I can't see many people wanting to try it 'til they know someone else who's succesfully used it and liked it.
Plus some mobile networks charge a fortune for messages sent to "quicktext" numbers.

Potentially it's a fab idea. But as Claire said, how do you know what seats you've got etc?

Yeah, I agree, it's a good idea with so many people relying on mobiles now but how do you know what seats you get...It's like when my mum tried to ring up ticketmaster and book tickets but it's all automated so you don't know what seat you get.

just to clarify but you do know what seats you're having if you call ticketmaster on the phone... that is not to say ticketmaster aren't cr*p... Lastminute doesn't tell you what seats you have either, and I booked for Evita tomorrow just because Mischa said he'd bought with them before and got good ones *sorry for the slight OT, but I *am* still worried!* I was interested in this too, but without knowing my seat, and possibly with a booking fee, why should I bother... much quicker to go to the theatre in person.

Ah that's good at least! We were trying to get a certain seat from ticketmaster...do they let you choose over the phone? We tried to get one for row B as my friend has now decided she's coming June 2nd but the theatre can't sell Row B seats as they are reserved for ticketmaster...my mum didn't think you could choose the seat you wanted...or maybe you can't but they tell you your seat...I dunno lol

hold on, are we talking about the Coward? since when is row B reserved for Ticketmaster? I've sat in row B twice and I always book at the theatre!
Anyway, the one time I've booked on the phone with ticketmaster, they gave me two or three options and I picked from those and they should also send out a confirmation email (although this is very slow and usually takes over a day) with seat row & numbers.

Ah right ok! My mum rang up the theatre to book for row B and they told us we couldn't buy them from them and that we had to phone ticketmaster instead...

I always book through the delfont mackintosh site and get to choose from any seats. If not, I call them and its the same! Never heard of them allocating to ticketmaster. x

Has anyone tried or know anyone who's tried booking by text?

Never heard of them allocating to ticketmaster. x Of course they allocate a block of seats to ticketmaster - if they didn't, there would never be any tickets available via ticketmaster. The only discussion point in this is whether row B is part of TMs regular allocation, or what DM sell themselves, surely.

Yes, but the seats you can get on the ticketmaster site and the delfont site are often the same. So maybe the bookings are linked electronically somehow so you book both places. For example, I have search for seats on both sites in the same hour and the same seats have been offered to me.

Oo OK, I stand corrected on that. Generally speaking agencies are given their own batch of tickets to sell though. Maybe TM / DM booking systems are linked somehow, like you said.
