I generally never know what to write in reviews but Friday's show was memorable for one thing: I never saw anyone flub in Avenue Q and now all of a sudden I find myself with 3 people messing up!
Two of them would've gone unnoticed if they hadn't corrected themselves (Naoko "for hundreds... many hundreds of years now!" and Gabriel as Brian "here's enough money... a check with enough money to renovate the building!") but the best mess-up ever was Julie's, it went like this:
"I can get by my savings for a while and... then temp and... and... that's it!"
and Jon didn't quite know how to follow up to that I think, because he literally mumbled "Your school" and then they went back on track from there.
Still it was hilarious, I had a really hard time holding in the laughter also because it was not supposed to be a funny scene
For anyone keeping track we had Gabriel as Brian (so I finally saw him and now I only have to see Jacqui once and then my life will be complete), Luke covering for Simon and Matt for Giles, who funnily enough I had seen at the stage door just a half hour before the show!?
I liked Gabriel, he's probably a bit too young for Brian I'd say and probably the role is too limited to showcase his talent, which we know he has in great amounts
I heard he was also on as Nicky/Trekkie recently and I'd kill to see him in both other roles he covers.
