Sometimes it happens...it's just the way that the theatre world goes.
*puts on stage manager hat*
Sometimes due to very tight rehearsals schedules understudies barely get any rehearsal, if indeed they get any at all. I'm not suprised that some understudies go on having never rehearsed a role at all. I know people who've understudied having only ever watched the lead perform...theatre is a crazy industry...lol.

What role was Luke covering last night? As far as I know he wasn't on. Unless he is one of the ones that you don't actually see (are there two of them?) Well if Sion was off then Luke was covering for him. He is first cover both for Simon and Sion. |

From past experience, I know second understudies barely ever rehearse if at all. It's very rare that second understudies go on, especially in larger shows, with larger/more varied casts - plus the ensemble/swings/understudies in Avenue Q understudy a lot more roles that a usual understudy would which means there's more chance of the 2nd going on than in other shows.

Well I hope most of them are on for Friday's matinee... I don't really fancy seeing half the FoH staff or cleaners dancing around with sock-puppets or something instead...
