Ah well, considering the first time I saw Naoko I didn't like her, and five months later when she left I cried, I doubt my first impression of Jennifer will be very reliable |

Aw bless! I'm gonna miss Naoko so much...I imagine I'll be quite biased towards Naoko when I first see Jennifer as well, but that will be because I'm not used to her...

riiiight, so I'm back. I've got to say I thoroughly enjoyed bits of Jennifer's performance, others not so much. I will try and go by points cos it's usually quicker: * I think she's too young. I like Xmas Eve to be in her 30s. Which is why, just like Yanle, even though she's good I don't think she's too suited for the part. * She still needs to work on her diction a bit I think. If I didn't know all the lines by heart I think I wouldn't have understood some of them with the way she was saying them. Especially in the "violent" scenes * The more you ruv someone was FANTASTIC! sang with fabulous ease. But I missed that bit at the end where Naoko did the split-personality thing (I can't think of another word for it!) * At the end of Everyone's a little bit racist when she threw that high kick she really threw it. I was really impressed. I've got to find out if this girl did any martial arts! And her doing victory-signs at the end is also very Japanese, I found that a nice addition. * SHE DID THE JAPANESE-SHOUTING THING NAOKO DID! * Her "goddamnit!" at the end was more angry (like Ann's) than deadpan (like Naoko's) but she didn't drink straight from the bottle which is the fun part in that scene! She just stared at it! And I really didn't like that! and at the end of one spoken line which I just can't remember right now she did a little sing-song which I loved. but then at another point she flubbed a line and I can't remember which one, maybe tomorrow. Um, yeah, think that's it. Who's going to be the next one to see her? |

My flatmate saw her last night, having seen Naoko previously and her only comment was that she struggled to understand a couple of things and that maybe the accent was over done - other than that fantastic apparently!

Remember she will need time to get into the role. That's why I gave Naoko the benefit of a doubt after her terrible performance at royal variety.

I think Jennifer is a dancer so maybe that's how she did the kick so well I quite liked Naoko on the Royal Variety... |
