Saw the show (again) this afternoon and thought I'd review it because I've had too much sugar and am too awake to sleep.
Only understudy was Yanle as Christmas Eve. Thought she was good. Fantastic strong voice, very good acting. Unfortunately some of her lines fell a bit flat but that's because we had a very weird audience which I'll get on to later.
Front row for the first time today. Seat AA9 (after much hassle...turns out the box office had printed us the wrong tickets when we booked. Long story short, we were front row).
Awesome seats. Was so amazing to be able to be that close to the action. Third time seeing the show and I noticed SO much more because I was front row, and so found new things to laugh at which made the experience even more enjoyable.
OH! And the eye contact with cast is amazing. Especially with Simon who was constantly looking at the front row. I got a look before they came into the audience for the Money Song and promptly melted on the spot.
Ummm *thinks*
Cast were fab as always. Extremely high energy the entire way through. Simon got a lot of laughs/applause/reaction for everything he did. The audience lapped him up especially as Trekkie. The Internet Is For Porn was hillarious. Very strong performances from all of them...Sion seemed to worked really well with Yanle which was cool.
I know I did this last time but Clare needs a mention for her hard work on stage, because she really is fantastic as Nicky's 'other half' etc.
Couple of technical glitches but nothing major.
Ummm...funny moments...the look on Sion's face when myself and my friend put money themed chocolate/sweets in the hat. He looked so excited. I hope they got our offerings or I'll cry...
Um...one of the band I THINK got their instrument stuck in the window when they come out for their 'bow' - Jon and Simon got the giggles really badly...and I think that was the cause of it.
The audience were really bizarre, sometimes they were really animated and others there was dead silence.
The "is her name purpose" joke got NO laughs at all. I nearly choked I was so shocked. Yeah, weird audience. Hmm.
Think that's it. Um no stage door again, but next time I'm deffo going!
The end...
