The first time I saw this show was 26th February 2007 with my boyfriend. He did not know I was going to become so attached to it! Since then I've been going back quite often...I mean, its only April, and I've seen it 6 times! I've brought 20 people to see it because I believe that it's one of those shows you have to see before you die.
Its because of this show why I practice so much with my puppets and I WILL AUDITION FOR IT NEXT YEAR!!
With a fantastic script, stunning musical score and a story line that we can ALL identify with, its no wonder this musical won the 2004 Tony Award. Jeff Marx, Robert Lopez, Jeff Whitty, I salute you.
The soundtrack is amazing, from the catchy theme tune that you cant help rocking your head to...to songs like "If You Were Gay" and "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist" and the INFAMOUS " The Internet Is For Porn".. it truly brings joy to ANY miserable day. ;D
The characters are so expressive with their feelings... Rod is blue for a reason... he's constantly sad and confused about his life. Thats why his eye brows are one up one down...
Nicky and Trekkie both need 2 people to operate them, as they are quite loud and outspoken. I love the fact that if you look closely, you can see Nicky has STUBBLE! Its to demonstrate that he's FAR too lazy to shave! haha! And Trekkie's fur helps alot with his movement and makes him look alot bigger than he is!
Notice with Kate Monster... she doesn't open her mouth very wide when she speaks... she's the more shy type, whereas Lucy the Slut is upfront, in your face and talks with her boobs... ;D
I love all the contrasts with the characters, and Princeton is surprisingly handsome for a puppet!
Jon Robyns, Julie Atherton, Simon Lipkin, Clare Foster, and everyone else whose surnames I cant remember ... all put on a STUNNING performance, with incredible silly voices that will have you in stitches for AGES.
I could go on FOR EVER about the amazing set, the "purpose boxes", the unique way they manage to bring Princetons appartement OUTSIDE onto the pavement... (very clever that is...)and the exploding beds but I dont have time and you may get bored! but what I WILL say is that its the funniest show you'll EVER see..
