Ugh..... ok, few things to note before I start this review, I'm (very) drunk, I'm just getting over a very bad chest infection and have just done a 10K charity walk in nessa shoes, so if this is slightly narcy and blunt... blame all that!
My worst show to date. Firstly, no Julie. Which is awful because I FINALLY convinced my sister to come see it with me (took a lot, she didn't like the concept of the show) and i really wanted her to see Julie as she's seen her before in a few gigs and Fame waaaay back in 2002. So anyway, no Julie, truly disappointing.
Jacqui was ok. But that was it. Her Lucy the slut voice was fantastic. But she didn't really have much in the way of expressions or emotions. She felt very... blank. Her Lucy singing voice was fantastic, her Kate singing voice not so much.
Mary.... my initial reaction was just pure horror. I texted Manu mid show to have a whinge just because of how much I didn't like her. I realise now in hindsight that it's probably because she's just so different to Clare, it's a lot to get used to from one show to the next! One thing that really got me was her Bad Idea voice.... it just sounded so wrong! It was almost too cartoony, it didn't really gel with Simons blue bear.
Delroy (that is the new Gary right?) well, he's interesting. He's actually not too bad but he seems to mumble a lot and his singing voice starts off too quiet and you can only really hear him when he's being loud.. (I know, not very articulate but remember.. half a bottle of archers.. I'm surprised I can type at all!) But seriously, they need to get the guy a box to stand on. He's so short bless him, but he couldn't do the canopy thing for the wedding, he jumped up to try and clip the pole in, but Simon had to do it for him. And then with the monstersorri sign, you could see him jump up and down a few times trying to throw it over the top, so comical! He then proceeded to throw the rope over and nearly knocked Jennifer out!
Jennifer managed to completely forget her line in STBM, she came in at 'chinese restaurant, but I am Japanese.' so funny, she was just looking ahead blankly...
Jon, Sion and Simon were as always absolutely superb!!
My sister loved the show anyway and said she'll go back when she knows Julie's on.
