I went to see Cinderella at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend this evening. Very, very good. Joe Pasquale is fantastically funny, always making other cast members laugh and you never know how much is scripted and how much he's making up on the spot.
Jon was great, as expected. He has a few songs and there's definitely shades of Princeton when he sings, but it's very odd seeing him without his hand up a puppet. He doesn't get masses of stage time but the times that he is on are great and you even get to see him in a ridiculous wig.
The show overall is your usual pantomime. Very funny, the classic panto jokes are there and it's full of audience interaction.
It was nice speaking to Jon again at stage door. A few people were hanging around waiting for Mr Pasquale and Jon seemed quite surprised that we were there to talk to him, I guess usually he and the other supporting cast tend to just pass through the crowd who are waiting for Joe. He said he misses Q but this is nowhere near as tiring, even doing two shows a day.
Hopefully I'll be able to get down to Richmond to see Simon...

thanks for the review Hurri! It was nice to know about it since I won't make it to this one. Ahhh I really wish I could see the Cliffs Pavilion at some point, just for sentimental value!
I'm not seeing Simon's panto for another month and I am panicking he will not be on when I go, because truth be told I really don't want to see panto, everyone tells me it's just not worth it! So I'd only be going for him! I can't wait to read your review Abbie! And please tell Simon he is not allowed to be off on January 17th!!

Ok...sorry to double post... Went to see this yesterday  Was very very good! Jon has about 4 or 5 solos which is really odd for a secondary character but they were all awesome! Lots of dancing....and balancing lol! Simon told me to expect Jon's to be better than his and to be honest, I can see where he was coming from! Mainly because this one obviously had a bigger budget so looked a lot mor professional. I'll leave you to judge for yourselves though |

I saw Jon's panto before Christmas and really enjoyed it (although my sister and mother in law did think the spitting water at each other scene was unecessary and unhygenic! Well, they aren't six!) I think Jon had the most songs of anyone actually - we counted three. Very impressed with his dancing in the first number with the prince in the woods! Also, thought he eclipsed Chris (who played the Prince).
Am seeing the Richmond panto in early January so will be able to see which I think is better!
Did you go to the stage door or anything afterwards Abbie? We went afterwards - and I felt a bit silly when everyone asked if Joe was coming out and I said "Is Jon coming out" and everyone was looking in their programmes to see which one Jon was! He was very chatty and friendly though - bit more relaxed than at the Q stage door.

Yes we did go to Stage Door. Had to ask Jon a favour actually, we didn't really mind if we saw Joe or not! He came out soon after Jon though so we stayed whilst some friends got photos and stuff...I didn't really say much to him though lol. I agree, Jon seems a lot more relaxed than at Q...must not be used to people not stopping him so imagine it's quite nice to chat to people...

ok AYESHA HAS ARRIVED PEOPLE!!!1 lol! so i went with abbie, alex, webby, and jade and laura... and obviously im gonna find it AMAZING. it was my fist proper panto and i thought the music was really nice.... the little kids in costume were so cute and the pnoies!! aaaaaaaaw!!! anyway.... back to jon... ahem.. the stage door convo went like this... the convo went like this..
(he walks out.. i freeze.)
Jon- * hello all!* (there were a few of us...)
me- *(blank expression... cos i knew what was coming next...)
Jon- (looking DIRECTLY AT ME) just wanna say i was NOT at ALL put off by what you did when I came on stage!!!!
Me- *im so sorry, i didnt mean to scream like that... i just.. didnt expect you to .. leap out onto the stage like that... i got... startled ..slightly.*
Jon- (laughing) nah its alright
Me_ rite so anyway... um... i have something for you...
Jon_ so, dya wanna open it cos i know wat you were like the last time... i took to long to open it and

Jon- ok ok ok.... *carefully opening*
