A couple of months ago, the first offical Community Theater production of Avenue Q opened in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Obivously, being a local production Rick Lyon had no involvement with the puppets, as they were built by the theater. So, they're pretty crude looking(Though not as bad as the Irseali productions). Also, every puppet character has a different actor playing them: www.kazoocivic.com/cgi-bin/photo_gallery.pl?id=131&type=PERFORMANCE

I love how Rod's felt is a bit bunched at the back making it look like he had a bad facelift!

This'll be the only community theater production to use crude-looking puppets that they built themselves...I just found another thread on this production, and Rick Lyon himself posted in it.
Rick stated he didn't know that this was going on, and he'll be building a supply of puppets for community theaters to rent!
Also, the rights for the community theater production will not be released for another two or three years...this was actually a test to see how to make the show suitable for community theatres without altering too much of the content.
The only thing that's different is that the uses of the f-bomb were replaced with other swears and the final line for Girlfriend Who Lives In Canada is changed. The rest of the show, including the sex scene, is unaltered.
This is actually great news for me, because I'll be being studying theater this semester, and hopefully make community theater a hobby. This is also great for amatuer puppeters, not only this gives people a chance to BE in Avenue Q, but it also gives them a chance to work with official Lyon-made puppets instead of cheap ones like this trial production.

Oh! To me The "F Bomb" is a phrase from Neighbors! Darn those Aussie soaps with their weirdly sexy taxi driver!

Rosie's a lucky girl! He's yum!
Why is it americans find the F word so offensive? It's just another word really. Obviously I wouldn't say it in front of my grandmas as they're of the age where even a tiny tattoo is shocking. But really it's not like they swear a lot in the show and everybody does it, although some more than others.

Hmm, not too sure why most Americans find it so offensive... Personally, fuck is my most used word ;D

the eyes our almost the only thing that makes them look different.. the only other things re the fact that one bad idea bear is a different color, rod's hair is little different, and the puppet's clothes have changed, but those three aren't really that bad.. the guy who plays princeton has a funny face in the first picture! hee hee..

I thought the blokes playing Nicky and Rod had a perfect look for those parts. Like they could have played them in a live action version.
