... that Avenue Q will be re-opening at the Geilgud in June. Cameron Mackintushy had a change of heart after ticket sales shot up when closing notices were posted.
This is from a *fairly* reliable source. Might not happen though.

I have just heard this again, and it seems definite.
I am kind of happy, but also kind of sad. I would prefer a tour to a West End transfer. I think ticket sales will decrease and they'll be closing again in a few months... ah well.

I've a suspicion Mr Mack-Attack has had this planned all along... Close the show and bring it back 'by popular demand' with renewed interest...

Well, it's definitely happening, so I guess the last show is no longer the last show! Ah well, I only spent £150 on that weekend.... argh!

Woooah! Hold your horses, kids. I've got sources on the inside at CML (it would be classy under any other circumstances, wouldn't it?) - This is hot talk at the moment. The producers (even the NYC lot; Jeffrey Seller, Robyn Goodman and the rest) met at the CML London office about a fortnight ago to discuss things. If this decision HAS been made, it'll literally only be Cameron and the other producers that know about it. I'm clued in enough to know that no staff at CML, even some of the highest, know about this yet, and there's certainly been no announcements made. That said, I would be lying if I said this looked unlikely, like most rumours of extension that inevitably come with a closing West End show. "Enjoy" is currently doing diabolically shit sales at the Gielgud, and is currently on bill to close on May 16th; which would time in incredibly well for a new show to turn up in June. What CAN be said is this; if Avenue Q were to relaunch at the Gielgud, it would still be Mackintosh running it, but a new production is what we're looking at; certain members of the current cast would likely be offered reprises of their roles, but from talking to most of them at stage door, my personal guess would be that they've had a fantastic time, but are looking forward to passing on the baton (...well, the puppet). We're also talking new crew and production team (which is good news for me; one of the Noel Coward ushers wants me burnt alive). To conclude; Avenue Q is neither likely nor unlikely to launch at the Gielgud in June. Nobody's really saying it could happen, nobody's really saying it couldn't. All anybody other than the "power four" know right now is that it would tick some good boxes for them, and that the path is clear for it to happen. I'll be here posting updates as and when I know; I'm quite lucky with some of the people I've managed to gain contact with, and am desperate to discover all this myself too! For the time being though, the official word is that Avenue Q closes at the Noel Coward on March 28th, and that's it for London, after which the puppets, set, and other resources are flying out to Australia (that's another point, if it does re open, what the hell are Australia going to do - www.avenueqthemusical.com.au ?) Ruvvings. (: Ollie. x

I haven't really got any news, but Jeff Marx said that he knows they're talking about reopening Avenue Q. But he knows about as much as we do. He reckons they'll announce something soon.

(which is good news for me; one of the Noel Coward ushers wants me burnt alive). Hope this isn't my friend who works there! I do have a lot of trust for my source, but hey, he could be wrong for once. Apparently there will be an awesomely clever publicity launch very soon.
