I saw the Broadway production on... September the somethingth. I think the 10th. It was good, but having seen the show in London it was a bit, you know, *meh*.
We did get good seats though. They have a lottery system where you go about 2 hours before the show and enter you name into the draw. I was with 3 friends and we all wanted to see the show, so we were hoping for 4 seats... out of 12 (the whole front row). Seriously, the theatre is the tiniest one I have ever seen. So we didn't really get our hopes up since about 30 people entered and everyone whose name gets called can get 2 tickets, but we managed to win 4 seats! We were very very amazed. So we had front row seats, and unlike London the stage is very very low, I'd say about half a metre high, so we felt like we were actually on the stage, which was fantastic. Trekkie doens't pop out of the floor though - there was a trapdoor about a metre in front of me and I was really hoping he'd pop up!
The cast were a bit useless, I thought. Christmas Eve was probably the best, although she didn't look that Chinese (maybe it was just me). Trekkie/Nikki should have been Brain. I don't actually remember Brian. I don't really remember Rod/Princeton. Kate/Lucy had a really good voice but she just didn't really work in the part. "Fine, Fine Line" needs a good bit of belting but I was nearly asleep. Overall, they were too old. It sounds mean, but Avenue Q needs a young cast and they just weren't.
Oh, Gary was a woman. That was amazing and fantastic and brilliant and should alwasy happen. By far the best in the show.

As a bit of dumb luck, they don't come anywhere near me till their last US stop. D'oh!
Though I have to say maybe its a good thing to wait because hopefully the tour cast is better than the current Broadway one.

I wouldn't pay a lot, but you might as well try the lottery. It's well worth £10!

Ah, now the fact that he works for the white house I didn't know :S That's perfectly understandable! No it's not. People should get over themselves and not see everything as a personal attack.

Howie Michael Smith is nothing in comparison to JTags or Jon (haven't seen Daniel yet, but he seems pretty right for the part).

He puts so much energy into the show and it makes the show so enjoyable! Not to mention that his Rod is hysterical and he's a very nice, easy going person to talk to. But you're right there; Jon was WAY WAY better... No need to go into detail on why Jon was great! He was just plain FANTASTIC! Daniel also seems great from the videos I've seen..

Oops. I think I confused Howie with Barrett Foa (who I really didn't like). Haven't seen Howie yet, but I'm sure he's great

i wanted to see the tour in boston, but because I had no idea they were gonna be there until 5 months after agreeing to not ask my dad for anything since he was paying for my NYC trip, i didn't get to go.. it actually would've been cheaper for me to see the show in New York anyway, and I'd rather see Jennifer Barnhart (i think she's still there..) instead of a guy that's from my hometown (who's very good but still, it's not the same as getting to see it in New York) .. but at least I got to see the golden theater on my way to see Curtains (which stunk, I should've snuck across the street)
i swear, if i don't get to see avenue q this summer i will go bonkers!
oh, and after millions of youtube clips, i kind of like the original broadway cast more than the london cast.. i don't know why, but the person who does kate in london (sorry, i stink with names, you don't want to know how long it took me to pronounce 'tartalglia'.. and i still can't spell it right i think) kind of makes her sound a little.. well.. snobbish.. but just a little!
Though I think Simon's the best Trekkie!

You mean Julie Atherton? Aww, it's a shame you think that, because really, her Kate wasn't snobbish at all, it was just her attempting an American accent. (My favourite is Simon's Nicky voice which barely conceals his normal English accent... it's so funny!)

Quick question here. Will the show still stay at Broadway by the end of this year/beggining of 2009? It's almost certain that I'll get to travel to NY around november of this year or february of the next year and if there's one thing I can't die without doing it, is watching Avenue Q live.
